After breakfast on Sunday morning we headed off into Burra for some sightseeing. Although we had both been to Burra several times before, we always enjoy this quaint little town.

There is a great walking track along the creek and we found the most amazing old school with magnificent architecture. It is now the Burra Community School and it is great to see such a lovely place still being used today.

After a coffee and some shopping we headed off to the old Burra copper mines. They have been done up really well to record the history of the mines and their mainly Cornish miners. Seems the Cornish feature heavily wherever there is underground mining. When the underground mining petered out, Burra went to an open cut style, but this did not prove sufficiently profitable to keep the mines operating.
